Colombo Colts Cricket Club continued their impressive form in the Major Club T20 Tournament 2025, securing a commanding 7-wicket victory over BRC in their second group stage encounter.
Bowling first, the Colts unleashed a relentless attack, bundling out BRC for just 73 runs in 14.5 overs. The bowlers were clinical from the outset, with veteran spinner Akila Dananjaya leading the way, picking up 3 wickets for 18 runs in a crafty spell.
He was brilliantly supported by a disciplined unit:
- Dhananjaya Lakshan took 2 for 10,
- Dilshan Madushanka chipped in with 2 for 11,
- Dunith Wellalage and Muditha Lakshan claimed one wicket each, giving little room for BRC batters to settle.
Chasing a modest target of 74, Colombo Colts CC lost a couple of early wickets but never looked under pressure. The experienced Angelo Mathews anchored the innings with a calm and classy 30 not out, steering the chase alongside Dunith Wellalage, who contributed a handy 18 not out.
Earlier in the innings, Sangeeth Cooray (15) and Ravindu Rashantha (8) provided a quick start, setting the platform for the comfortable chase. The Colts reached the target in just 11.1 overs, sealing their second consecutive win in the tournament.
