Colombo Colts Cricket Club produced a confident all-round performance to defeat Moors Sports Club by 7 wickets in their opening fixture of the SLC Major Club 50 Overs Tournament 2025, successfully chasing down a target of 250 with ease.
Bowling first, the Colts were tested by a solid batting effort from Moors SC, who posted 249 all out in 50 overs. However, Manula Kulathunga turned the tide with a sensational spell, taking 4 wickets for just 23 runs, breaking the back of the Moors innings.
He was supported by Muditha Lakshan (1 for 42), Kavishka Anjula (1 for 44), Sanoj Darshika (1 for 47), and Akila Dananjaya (1 for 49) as the Colts bowlers maintained control through the middle and death overs.
In response, Colombo Colts CC chased the target professionally, reaching 250 for 3 in 47.4 overs. The platform was laid by an elegant knock of 88 by Sangeeth Cooray, who timed the ball beautifully and anchored the innings with maturity.
He was well-supported by Ravindu Rashantha, who smashed a fluent 71, setting up the chase perfectly. The finishing touches came from veteran Angelo Mathews, who guided the team home with a calm 52 not out, alongside Sanoj Darshika (12 not out).
