Colombo Colts Cricket Club proudly celebrated its 152nd Anniversary with a grand event at the club premises. It was a special evening to honor the club’s long journey, achievements, and the people who made it possible.
The celebration was attended by the Patron – Mr. Eastman Narangoda, President – Mr. Nishantha Ranatunga, Vice Presidents – Mr. Chaminda Mendis & Mr. Chaminda Vaas, General Secretary – Major General Shiran Abeysekera, Treasurer – Mr. M Rathnaharan, other Executive Committee Members, fellow members, and their families, making the occasion truly memorable.
Founding in 1873, Colombo Colts Cricket Club has been a strong pillar of Sri Lankan cricket, producing great players and promoting the spirit of the game. A special timeline video was shown during the event, taking everyone through 152 years of proud history.
The evening included a moment of silence to remember members who passed away, as their contribution and love for the club will always be cherished.
The event also recognized Professor Chaminda Rathnayake – Deputy Vice Chancellor at NSBM Green University & Former Social Secretary of Colombo Colts Cricket Club for his outstanding service towards the club, an unforgettable milestone in the club’s history.
The event continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, a Q&A session with Honorary Life Member & the oldest member of the Club Mr. Lester Fernando, the captain who won the First Major Title for the club in 1991 Mr. Hemantha Devapriya & The Cricket Legend and Club Vice President Mr. Chaminda Vaas, where members and their families enjoyed an evening of friendship and unity.
As Colombo Colts Cricket Club steps into its 153rd year, the mission remains the same – to develop cricket, uphold the club’s values, and continue building memories together.
