"A Legacy of Champions – Over 150 Years of Cricketing Heritage"
The history of Colombo Colts Cricket Club would be incomplete without honoring the contributions of early greats like Tommy Kelaart, W. de Rozayro, and C. Kelaart, who were instrumental in shaping the club’s cricketing legacy during its formative years. Tommy Kelaart, widely recognized as one of Ceylon’s most elegant all-rounders of his time, brought both skill and dignity to the game. W. de Rozayro, known for his leadership and technical ability, was a prominent figure who contributed to the club’s competitive edge in domestic cricket. C. Kelaart, another member of the distinguished Kelaart family, played a vital role in uplifting the standard of cricket through his performances and sportsmanship. Their commitment laid the foundation upon which future generations of national and international stars would rise, establishing Colts CC as a true cricketing institution.

Colombo Colts Cricket Club has proudly stood as a cradle of Sri Lankan cricketing excellence. The club has been home to some of the island’s most celebrated national players, including icons such as Angelo Mathews, Roy Dias, Nuwan Kulasekera, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Thilan Samaraweera, Chaminda Mendis, Dulip Liyanage, Nishantha Ranatunga, and Eric Upashantha—all of whom wore the national crest with distinction. Equally significant is the club’s role in nurturing cricketing intellect and leadership, producing former selectors, board members, and coaches like Hemantha Devapriya and Neomal Perera. In recent years, the Colts have become a launchpad for modern stars such as Thisara Perera, Dulip Samaraweera, Akila Dananjaya, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Kusal Janith Perera, Dilruwan Perera, Shehan Jayasuriya, Avishka Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, and Dilshan Madushanka—many of whom have made their mark on the international stage. From legends to future greats, Colombo Colts CC continues to fuel the heartbeat of Sri Lankan cricket with passion, performance, and a deep-rooted legacy.
This legacy of excellence extends equally to the women’s game. Vanessa Bowen, a distinguished product of Colombo Colts, served as captain of the Sri Lanka Women’s National Team, leading with distinction and inspiring a new generation of female cricketers. Her leadership, skill, and commitment not only elevated women’s cricket at the national level but also strengthened the Colts’ reputation as a nurturing ground for elite athletes across all formats of the game.
