Colombo Colts CC Begin Major Club T20 2025 Tournament with Impressive Win Over Tamil Union

Colombo Colts Cricket Club kicked off their Major Club T20 Tournament 2025 in style, registering a confident 4 wicket win against Tamil Union in a thrilling encounter that went down to the final over.

Tamil Union, batting first after winning the toss, posted a competitive total of 165 for 8 in their 20 overs. Despite a few strong contributions with the bat, they struggled to build lasting partnerships due to tight bowling from the Colts.

The star with the ball was Kavishka Anjula, who tore through the middle order with an exceptional spell, returning figures of 4 wickets for just 19 runs. He was well supported by Dhananjaya Lakshan (2 for 15), Muditha Lakshan (1 for 17), and Dilshan Madushanka (1 for 35), ensuring that Tamil Union couldn’t fully capitalize on their start.

In response, Colombo Colts CC chased down the target in 18.5 overs, finishing at 166 for 6 thanks to a composed and match winning knock by Sanoj Darshika, who remained unbeaten on 55. His cool-headed innings anchored the chase, even as wickets fell at the other end.

Solid contributions from the middle order kept the momentum going, with Ravindu Rashantha (26) and Dhananjaya Lakshan (26) providing timely boundaries. Towards the end, Muditha Lakshan (16 not out) partnered with Sanoj Darshika to take the team home with seven balls to spare.

This win marks a strong start for Colombo Colts CC, showing both bowling discipline and batting depth. The team will look to carry this form into the rest of the tournament as they eye a place in the knockout stages.
