Colombo Colts Cricket Club continued their red-hot form in the Major Club T20 Tournament 2025, registering a comprehensive 59-run win over Police Sports Club, powered by a stunning unbeaten knock from Sangeeth Cooray and another all-round team performance.
Batting first, Colts posted an imposing 166 for 6 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to a spectacular innings from opener Sangeeth Cooray, who remained not out on 93. Displaying elegant stroke play and excellent composure, Cooray anchored the innings from start to finish and narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century.
Support came from Dunith Wellalage (23), Hirun Gallage (18), and Sanoj Darshika (10), helping Colts reach a strong total on a slightly tricky surface.
In reply, Police SC never found momentum against a sharp and disciplined bowling attack. They were restricted to 107 for 9 in their 20 overs, as the Colts bowlers struck at regular intervals and maintained tight lines throughout.
Dilshan Madushanka was once again among the wickets, claiming 3 for 12 in a fiery spell. He was well complemented by Shamsunder Krishnasram, who also impressed with 3 for 13, rattling the middle order.
Muditha Lakshan (1 for 13) and Sanoj Darshika (1 for 20) chipped in as well, ensuring there was no comeback from the opposition.
